Job summary

City of Powell River is seeking an RCMP Guard (Part-Time) to supervise detainees at the RCMP Detachment cellblock and ensure security, wellbeing and compliance with RCMP policies. Duties include custodial tasks, documentation and cell cleanliness, with risk response and safety adherence.

The role requires Grade 12, First Aid and WHMIS, six months' related experience, and the ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status. Shift work including weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma, Basic First Aid, WHMIS required.
• Ability to complete RCMP guard training within trial period.
• Six months of related experience.
• Strong judgment, cultural sensitivity, and safety procedure adherence.
• Enhanced Reliability Status required.

Responsibilities

• Custody, care and supervision of detainees in the cellblock.
• Maintain logs, records and documentation.
• Ensure prisoner security and wellbeing, following RCMP policies.
• Perform security, custodial and housekeeping tasks.
• Respond to high‑risk situations with sound judgment.
