Job summary

Linamar Corporation in Ontario seeks a Supervisor, Engineering to lead a team of engineers, manage daily operations and mentor staff. The role focuses on delivering quality manufacturing processes and supporting cross-functional collaboration.

You will oversee budgets, implement lean manufacturing practices, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with industry standards. A strong background in CAD tools and ERP systems is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) is required to approve drawings and practice as a PE.

  • Oversees daily activities of engineering staff, ensures tasks meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses and ensure cost control measures are in place.
  • Assign, train, develop and supervise manufacturing engineers, student engineers, outside vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring resources and knowledge to succeed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Assists in planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, such as CAD/CAM, CAT, quotation sheet.
  • Liaise with production, materials, QA to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
  • Oversees design, development and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards and comply with regulations and safety standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends to incorporate best practices.
  • Set goals, evaluate performance and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members.
  • Monitor and enforce quality control processes to maintain high standards of work.

Job Title: Supervisor, Engineering

  • Identify and implement process improvements and/or new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity

Academic/Educational Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent
  • Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practices as a Professional Engineer (P.
Required Skills/Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing process, lean manufacturing principle and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, process flow, control plans, ECNs, etc...
  • Proficiency in Solidworks/AutoCAD software, ERP systems and other manufacturing – related tools
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
