Dana Canada Corp. is seeking a Designer - Mechanical Engineering, Product Development to lead design activities from concept to production. You will create mechanical parts and assemblies, ensuring thermal and structural integrity while collaborating with electrical engineers on electro‑mechanical integration.

You will prototype, validate concepts, and help start production. The role requires up to 2 years of mechanical design experience, a mechanical engineering degree, and aspiration to join

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
  • Aspiring to be a Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor design activities from architecture to production.
  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies with thermal/structural constraints.
  • Support electro‑mechanical integration with electrical engineers.
  • Perform analytical calculations and collaborate with calculations team.
  • Design, prototype, validate new concepts and support production start.
  • Produce manufacturing drawings with the mechanical draftsman.
  • Lead design reviews and track design deliverables.
  • Document decisions and support internal communication.
  • Represent the company as a technical expert in client meetings.

Job Purpose
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and monitoring of design activities for a given product, from architecture to production;
  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies, considering thermal and structural constraints;
  • Support electro‑mechanical integration, collaborating with electrical engineers;
  • Perform analytical calculations and collaborate with the advanced calculations team;
  • Design, prototype, validate new concepts;
  • Support the start of production;
  • Support the mechanical draftsman in the production of manufacturing drawings;
  • Recommend, analyse, and implement engineering changes;
  • Participate in and lead design reviews of components and complete products;
  • Assist with project and technical coordination, tracking key design deliverables, documenting decisions, and supporting internal communication;
  • Represent the company as a technical expert when meeting with clients.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical design;
  • Aspirations to be a Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ);
Skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical modelling software (NX from Siemens, Solidworks, Catia) ;
  • Knowledge of Siemens TeamCenter lifecycle management (PLM) software (or other equivalent PLM);
  • Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing (GD&T);
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for metal and plastic parts;
  • Experience in mechanical design of electronic products, an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to document their work;
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Proactive and autonomous ;
  • Knows how to take a critical look at his work and that of others;
  • Rigorous and respectful of deadlines;
  • Functional English and French (spoken and written)
