Job summary

MTE Consultants Inc. is seeking a Designer to join the Municipal Division, based in London or Kitchener.

The role focuses on preparing plan-and-profile drawings for municipal infrastructure, roadway designs, and water/ sewer layouts, leveraging Civil 3D and AutoCAD within a collaborative, employee-owned firm. You will work on residential, commercial, and municipal projects, coordinate with staff and public stakeholders, and contribute to design reports and project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of related work experience on Municipal development projects.
• Civil 3D and AutoCAD Design experience.
• Strong knowledge of underground servicing and municipal road design.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and design standards.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plan and profile drawings of municipal infrastructure using Civil 3D and Open Roads.
• Create municipal corridor drawings, centre line alignments and roadway designs.
• Plot watermain, sanitary and storm sewer alignments.
• Size sanitary and storm water facilities and perform SWM design and water balance assessments.
• Perform design calculations per engineering principles for municipal projects.
• Liaise with municipal staff, contractors, and suppliers; coordinate with project team.
• Prepare technical design reports and memos.
• Attend project meetings and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Designer to join our Municipal Division to work out of our London or Kitchener office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plan and profile drawings of municipal infrastructure, specifically municipal roadways (Open Roads and Civil 3D)
• Prepare municipal corridor drawings, centre line alignments and functional roadway designs
• Plot watermain, sanitary, and storm sewer alignments
• Sizing of sanitary and storm water management facilities, SWM design and Water balance impact assessments
• Complete design calculations based on engineering principles for various municipal development projects, meeting applicable regulatory codes and standards
• Liaise with municipal staff, contractors, and the public and equipment suppliers
• Preparation of technical design reports and memos
• Attend and participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables
• Other related duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering; Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience, specifically with Municipal development projects
• Civil 3D and AutoCAD Design experience
• Strong knowledge of underground servicing and municipal road design
• Strong knowledge of engineering principals and design standard
• General familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields
• Strong technical report writing skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong problem solving skills accompanied by attention to detail
• Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Outlook, Excel and Word
• Familiarity with various civil design software
• Preliminary and Final Design of Roads, Bridges and Municipal Facilities
• Servicing, Grading and Drainage Design
• A strong working knowledge of water resources principles, advanced technical writing skills as well as strong verbal communication and comprehension skills is required
• Agency Approvals and permitting
• Application of trenchless technologies

Salary Range

$68,000 – $72,000per year base salary, plus benefits

Annual Salary will be based on individual education, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
