Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Design Manager to join our team. This position will be based out of our Ottawa, ON office, with opportunities for hybrid work.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics, and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education, and Government.

Major Responsibilities

1. Manage one or more moderately complex projects, involving a combination of the following:
2. Clients with a regional geographic footprint; OR,
3. Projects involving multiple services provided by regional IE offices; OR,
4. Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.
5. Manage all phases of projects from beginning to closeout.
6. Work mostly independently but receive basic instructions on specific assignments, objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
7. Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
8. Supervise senior-level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating, and procurement representatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

University Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other relevant field of study + four (4) years of design management experience on major infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Requirements

Senior-level design management experience on major infrastructure projects as a Design Manager is preferred.
