Position Overview

As Stoko’s Design and Development Specialist, you will be responsible for working with the R&D team to assist and contribute to design throughout all stages of product development. We are looking for a creative individual with a passion for making, learning, and solving technical problems as a part of a tight knit multi-fauceted team.

  • Support design and development: Working closely with the design and engineering leads, you will be responsible for assisting and contributing to functional and aesthetic product development of all Stoko creations from conception to fully functional products.
  • Technical knitting & apparel prototyping: Prototype full products in-house using technical knitting, sewing, and bonding techniques for product development, functional testing and product validation.
  • Support development and commercialization of products: Create and develop tech packs, technical drawings and specifications, and review garment quality to support the commercialization process to get products ready for production.
  • Contribute to the aesthetic direction of the brand: From trend forecasting, to moodboards, to research of material and technical innovations, you will contribute to how our portfolio of products shape the brand’s identity and alignment with our target consumer.
  • Participate in fit sessions and collect athlete feedback: Attend and support in person fit sessions to record user feedback and identify areas for improvement in fit, function, and comfort.
  • Generate new product and design concepts: Realize new concepts through sketching, rendering, and prototyping new technical and aesthetic concepts that could provide growth opportunities for the brand.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in apparel design, industrial / product design, or equivalent.
  • Degree or expertise in technical apparel design, industrial / product design or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Ability and interest in learning new software and design methods, including technical knitting.
  • Experience with 3D modeling/rendering software such as Solidworks, Rhino 3D, Clo3D, or any equivalent is an asset.
  • Sewing and pattern making experience is an asset.
  • Experience or familiarity in technical garment construction methods is an asset.
  • Passion for making and the creative process.
  • Enthusiasm for lifelong learning, problem solving, and stepping out of your comfort zone.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work well within a highly collaborative and tight knit team environment.
