Job summary

HDR Kingston studio is seeking an Architect to contribute to architectural design and construction document production. You will work with project teams, coordinate with owners, subconsultants and contractors, and help drive project delivery from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and is pursuing registration, with strong leadership, presentation, and problem-solving skills, plus proficiency in Revit and related design tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.
  • Credentials to obtain future registration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and related tools.
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
  • Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select and apply architectural techniques to construction documents.
  • Independently perform architectural assignments with general guidance.
  • Collaborate with owners/clients and subconsultants to define procedures.
  • Coordinate subconsultant work for alignment with project requirements.
  • Lead Construction Administration with support from senior staff.
  • Write specifications and perform code reviews.
  • Assist other team members across all phases of the architectural process.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the Kingston studio, we'll count on you to:

  • Evaluate, select and apply architectural techniques, procedures and modifications to architectural construction documents
  • Perform architectural assignments independently with only general instruction from the Project Architect or Project Manager regarding the expected results
  • Work directly with owners/clients and subconsultants to select and recommend procedures
  • Coordinate subconsultant work for alignment with project requirements and Architectural Design.
  • Complete on-site evaluation of completed work and work with Contractors to lead Construction Administration efforts with support from the Project Architect or Project Manager
  • Write specifications covering architectural matters and perform code reviews
  • Assist Project Architects, other Architectural Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and take responsibility for work in all phases of the architectural process
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Proficiency in Grench is an asset but not required
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max
  • Rhino and Grasshopper experience
