Job summary

Western Energy Services in Manitoba is seeking a Derrickhand for a full-time seasonal role on our well servicing rig crew. You will assist the Driller, guide tubing and equipment, and help maintain the circulating system while following safety procedures.

Ideal candidates have prior service rig experience as Floorhand or Derrickhand, a valid Class 5 driver’s license, and are willing to work in all weather conditions away from home. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Previous service rig experience in Floorhand or Derrickhand roles.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Air Brakes Endorsement preferred.
• Fluent in written/spoken English.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions and away from home.

Responsibilities

• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance related to circulating system.
• Assist with pipe guiding while positioned in the derrick.
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and emergency response drills.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment hazards immediately.
• Ability to comply with company policies and procedures.

Job description

Derrickhandis an experienced crew member of the well servicing rig crew responsible for safely performing well servicing operations from the tubing board. Working at an elevated position, the Derrickhand guides tubing, tools and equipment as they are run into and pulled from the well. This position also includes operating and driving rig equipment to and from job sites, supporting the Driller in daily operations, mentoring and assisting crew members, and carrying out all assigned duties in accordance with client requirements, company procedures and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Driller with equipment maintenance specifically related to the circulating system
• Assist with pipe guiding while positioned in the derrick
• Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and emergency response drills
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment hazards immediately
• Ability to comply with company policies and procedures

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous service rig experience working in Floorhand and Derrickhand positions
• Valid full Class 5 Drivers license & reliable transportation
• Air Brakes Endorsement is preferred
• Preferred Industry Tickets:
  • H2S Alive
  • Standard First Aid with CPR
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • Fall Protection for Rig Work
  • Rig Rescue for Rig Work preferred
  • CAOEC Derrickhand Competency considered an asset
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing
• Fluent in Written/Spoken English
• Be willing to work in all weather conditions and work environments with work away from home

Derrickhand position is full-time seasonal position. Seasonal work is based on operational requirements, project schedules, weather and environmental conditions and other factors outside our control.
