Northern Health in Northwest British Columbia is seeking a dermatologist to provide services in the NW region. The physician may choose the community to work from and will have the opportunity to travel within the NW region. The role supports trauma, acute care, surgical services and a growing hospital network.

The hospital of Ksyen Regional Hospital serves a broad community with modern facilities, teaching sites and strong focus on culturally safe care for Indigenous populations.

Role and Facility Information

Northern Health is seeking a dermatologist to provide services in the Northwest region of British Columbia. The dermatologist would be able to choose the community he/she would work out of and enjoy the ability to travel in the NW region.

The Northwest is renowned for its natural beauty, mild climate and abundant recreation. Each and every community offers unlimited possibilities for career, family and future!

Ksyen Regional Hospital welcomed its first patients in November 2024. More than double the size of the previous hospital, it is a center for trauma services, acute care, surgical services pathology, radiology, clinical support and pharmacy services for the Northwest region. The hospital staff prides itself on delivering culturally safe care to our Indigenous populations.

• 42 Acute Care Beds
• 20 bed Psychiatry unit
• 4 surgical suites, including a dedicated Orthopedics OR
• 6 ICU Beds, with potential to expand to 8
• 20 Bed Emergency Department with 2 Trauma Bays
• Large Ambulatory Care Unit
• Community Cancer clinic
• Hemodialysis Unit
• Pediatric Care Space
• MRI, CT, and Nuclear Medicine services

The new hospital will also include a Tier 3 neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery, which will provide community-based antenatal and postnatal services, education and parenting support to pregnant individuals.

The hospital is also a training site for medical students in the Northern Medical Program and residents through the UBC Family Medicine Residency Program.

The thriving community of Terrace is Northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains, and pristine glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community. Anglers come to Terrace to challenge the steelhead and spring salmon of the Skeena River. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and resource product trade. Terrace offers affordable housing and natural splendor that supports a balanced lifestyle and has a airport that has five/six daily flights to both Prince George and Vancouver.

Benefits and Incentives

Vacation Leave 6-8 weeks annually, including CME May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 18.48% Retention Flat Fee $28,045 Relocation Funding Available $9,000-15,000 Recruitment Incentive $20,000 Other Benefits/Incentives As the Physician has the ability to chose the community he/she resides, the RSA amounts have been quoted for the Terrace area but each area in the NW has it's own RSA rates. Relocation: $15,000 if relocating from outside of Canada: $12,000 if relocating within Canada but outside of BC; $9,000 if relocating within BC.
