Job summary

London Drugs is seeking a Department Manager, General Merchandise (DMGM) to oversee Sales Supervisors, stocking staff and floor merchandising. You will drive sales by using financial information and maintain standards.

In the absence of store leadership you assume full store operation responsibility. The role requires prior Sales Supervisor experience, proven leadership, and the ability to train and motivate staff while maintaining high standards and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years as Sales Supervisor with related responsibilities.
• Current performance review indicating readiness for promotion.
• Completion of mandatory management training courses for current position.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to demand high standards and instill urgency.
• Strong planning, organizational and leadership abilities.
• Good knowledge of company policies, procedures and standards.
• Ability to train, coach and develop employees for advancement.
• Sound supervisory and delegation skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Sales Supervisors, Stocking Team Leaders, aisle staff and stocking team.
• Ensure general floor merchandising standards are met and manage floor using financial information.
• Act in absence of Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager for store operation.
• Oversee day-to-day store operations and drive sales opportunities.

Department Manager, General Merchandise (DMGM)

The DMGM is directly responsible for the supervision of Sales Supervisors, Stocking Team Leaders, aisle staff and the stocking team, in addition to all Sales Service personnel. The DMGM is also specifically responsible for ensuring all general floor merchandising standards are met and managing the general floor by utilizing relevant financial information with the goal of maximizing sales opportunities. In the absence of the Assistant Store Manager and the Store Manager, the Department Manager General Merchandise is responsible for assuming full control and accountability for the entire store operation.

Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:

• One or more years of experience in the capacity of Sales Supervisor, including all functional responsibilities of the position.
• A current performance review indicating that you are considered ready for promotion.
• Successful completion of all management training courses that are mandatory for your current position (refer to the current Required Training chart on the Employee Portal).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
