Job summary

The University of Alberta seeks a Dental Technician to provide comprehensive orthodontic laboratory services and educational technical support within the Orthodontics Graduate Program, reporting to the Supervisor, Dental Laboratory Services. This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Responsibilities include evaluating intraoral scans and impressions, fabricating models (3D printed or dental stone), and producing orthodontic appliances while assisting students and instructors to develop

Qualifications

  • College or Technical Institute Diploma in Dental Laboratory Technology.
  • Registered member of the College of Dental Technologists of Alberta – R.D.T. / D.T. Status.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fixed and removable orthodontic appliances.

  • Fabricates models (3D printed or poured into dental stone) for the purpose of appliance fabrication.
  • Fabricate all manner of orthodontic appliances as required.
  • Provides ongoing assistance to graduate and undergraduate students to ensure they develop a high standard of technical expertise in the evaluation of dental prescriptions, the design of orthodontic appliances and clinical working models.
  • Assists students, instructors and researchers in appliance design.

Job description

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Dental Laboratory Services, the Dental Technician provides comprehensive orthodontic laboratory services and educational technical support within the Orthodontics Graduate Program under the direction of licensed dental faculty.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates intraoral scans and/or clinical impressions for accuracy and suitability for fabrication of orthodontic appliances
  • Fabricates models (3D printed or poured into dental stone) for the purpose of appliance fabrication
  • Fabricate all manner of orthodontic appliances as required

This position is subject to all applicable terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the Governors of the University of Alberta and the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).
