Job summary

The Oral Health Program at Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre (BQWCHC) – Belleville Site – is seeking a Dental Assistant for a full-time permanent position.

You will assist the dentist, handle reception duties, and support inventory and billing, with a focus on serving uninsured and underinsured clients through public programs.

The role offers day shifts, paid vacation, and a values-driven, trauma-informed workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of recent relevant practical experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Effective oral and written communication skills (English).
• Experience performing reception/administrative tasks is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares clients and the treatment area for dental procedures.
• Assists the dentist during examinations and dental treatments including fillings, extractions, and other procedures.
• Schedule coordination and appointment booking.
• Determines client eligibility for insurance coverage using electronic portal.
• Provides reception services for clients in-person and over the telephone.
• Regularly collects data and generates reports reflecting program activity.
• Works with Finance to reconcile program financial information.
• Performs claims submissions and external billing.
• Provides client and community education pertaining to oral health.
