Summerhill Market is seeking a reliable Delivery Driver to support our Logistics Team in Toronto. This role involves transporting products between the Commissary Kitchen, Warehouse, and retail locations, using a 26-foot box truck and adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Commercial Delivery Driver.
  • Experience operating a 26-foot box truck is a strong asset.
  • Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving history.
  • Driver's Abstract and CVOR required upon hire.
  • Strong knowledge of Toronto and the GTA.
  • Physical fitness to lift up to 70 lbs+.
  • Food Handler Certification is an asset.
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver food products between Summerhill Market retail stores, Commissary Kitchen, Warehouse, and suppliers across the GTA.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle, including a 26-foot box truck, while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Navigate routes in downtown Toronto to deliveries and loading docks.
  • Load, unload, transfer, and hand-bomb products with care and attention to detail.
  • Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry products weighing up to 70 lbs+ throughout the shift.
  • Ensure products are secured properly during transport to prevent damage.
  • Complete delivery paperwork and perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Assist with warehouse activities and inventory movement.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, health & safety, and temperature control during transportation and handling.
  • Adhere to safety and teamwork, and remain flexible for overtime or additional shifts.

Job description

Summerhill Market is a family-owned Toronto grocery retailer known for exceptional customer service, high-quality prepared foods, scratch-made bakery products, and premium grocery offerings. Our Commissary Kitchen and Warehouse support multiple retail locations across the city, ensuring fresh products are delivered efficiently and safely every day.

We are currently seeking a reliable, safety-focused, and physically fit Delivery Driver to join our Logistics Team.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Delivery Driver is primarily responsible for transporting products between our Commissary Kitchen, Warehouse, retail stores, and suppliers in a timely fashion while maintaining safety and ensuring the integrity of products during transportation.

This role plays a critical part in supporting our retail and production operations by ensuring products arrive accurately, safely, and on schedule.

This is a physically demanding role requiring frequent lifting of up to 70 lbs+, hand-bombing product, and operating in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Schedule
  • Full-Time Permanent Position
  • Typical shift: 5:00am to 1:00pm
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Overtime and additional hours available as business needs require
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver food products between Summerhill Market retail stores, Commissary Kitchen, Warehouse, and suppliers throughout the GTA
  • Safely operate a company vehicle, including a26-foot box truck, while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
  • Navigate downtown Toronto routes, retail delivery locations, loading docks, and supplier facilities safely and efficiently
  • Load, unload, transfer, and hand-bomb products with care and attention to detail
  • Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry products weighing up to70 lbs+ throughout the shift
  • Ensure products are secured properly during transport to prevent damage
  • Provide logistical support to operations, working closely with multiple stores and departments to ensure accurate quantities of product is delivered on time
  • Assist with warehouse activities between deliveries including loading, unloading, inventory movement, stock organization, and general logistics support
  • Perform quality checks and complete delivery paperwork as required
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns immediately
  • Support scheduled maintenance and ensure company vehicles remain clean, safe, and roadworthy
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, health & safety, and temperature control requirements during transportation and handling of products
  • Maintain the highest regard for safety while operating vehicles, hydraulic tailgates, pump trucks, and related equipment
  • Additional duties as required
Skillset Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Commercial Delivery Driver
  • Experience operating larger commercial vehicles is required; experience driving a26-foot box truck is a strong asset
  • Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving history
  • Driver's Abstract and CVOR required upon hire
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Toronto and the GTA
  • Food Handler Certification is an asset (training may be provided)
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent is an asset
  • Physically fit and capable of standing, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, loading/unloading, pushing, and pulling products weighing up to70 lbs+
  • Highly organized, dependable, communicative, and deadline-driven
  • Able to work independently and follow schedules with minimal supervision
  • Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and teamwork
  • Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, overtime, and additional shifts as required
