Job summary

Tomlinson Group of Companies is seeking a DZ Delivery Driver to join our Ottawa operations at 3150 Rideau Road. You will operate straight trucks on local routes, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, load and unload cargo, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering goods to customers.

A valid AZ or DZ license and a reliable work ethic are required; 1-2 years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid AZ or DZ Driver’s License required.
• Clean driver's abstract.
• Ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual tasks.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• 1-2 years’ experience preferred.
• Experience in equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

Job description

Delivery Driver

Tomlinson is currently accepting applications for a DZ Delivery Driver at our 3150 Rideau Road location.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and drive primarily straight trucks to transport goods and materials mainly on local routes and short inter-urban routes
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment, and loading and unloading of cargo
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, and brakes
• Strong communication and customer service skills, accompanied by a one team mentality.
• Assist customers with equipment setup and operation as needed.
• Report maintenance defects through your truck foreman.
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting goods and equipment.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books
• Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
• May perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform mandated daily safety and maintenance checks on truck
• Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage

REQUIREMENTS
