Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is hiring a Food Services Manager to oversee the Meat and Deli departments, driving sales, productivity and exceptional customer service. You will lead a team, coach staff, manage scheduling and training, and ensure compliance with OH&S and food safety.

The role requires strong communication and people skills, a focus on local market strategies, and a commitment to delivering a premium shopping experience aligned with Sobeys' values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 18+ months of experience in Meat/Deli departments.
• Completion of Food Services Manager Training Program.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of total store operations and skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a coaching and development culture for all department employees, which embraces a passion for food.
• Manage Meat and Deli personnel including scheduling, performance management and training.
• Communicate operational requirements/changes to Meat and Deli department employees.
• Execute disciplinary process.
• Create a shopping experience that engages customers and drives loyalty, sales and profit.
• Provide customer service to meet customer needs and complete department orders.
• Maintain inventory and department standards; manage budget and KPI targets.

The Food Services Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Meat and Deli departments including sales/profitability, productivity and supervision of employees. The Food Services Manager will ensure operational excellence in retail merchandising, inventory management, and customer relations. You will coach and develop your team to provide superior customer service and shopping experiences through execution of strategy, customized for the local market while achieving budgeted financial results. The Food Services Manager is responsible for promoting an environment of employee and customer engagement.

• Manage Meat and Deli personnel which includes scheduling, recruitment, performance management and training
• Responsible for ensuring the communication of operational requirements/changes to Meat and Deli department employees
• Execute disciplinary process
• Create a shopping experience that engages customers in a way that enhances loyalty, sales and profit
• Provide customer service to meet customer needs
• Complete customer Meat and Deli order
• Perform department Production
• Maintain inventory
• Process department shrink
• Merchandise Meat and Deli department
• Execute department standards
• Ensure all applicable company policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to.
• Responsible for ensuring that OH&S, Food Safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures, are implemented and maintained
• Perform department administrative duties as required
• Manage department budget
• Responsible to ensure efficient operation of the department to achieve all financial targets and deliver on budgeted KPI’s
• Thoroughly understand all relevant company programs, attend training as required
• Be known as the employer of choice by actively supporting an environment of employee engagement
• Coordinate maintenance of department equipment and repairs
• Other duties as requested by the company

What You Bring To The Table

• High school diploma
• Minimum of 18 months of experience working in Meat/Deli departments Preferred:
• Completion of Food Services Manager Training Program
• A combination of education and experience may be considered
• Above average communication skills (oral and written) Full knowledge of department operations and skills Proficient use of Microsoft office suite
