Job summary

YMCA Camp Pine Crest in Torrance, Ontario seeks a Day Camp Program Head to support engaging day camp programs for children aged 4–12. You will coach Camp Counsellors, assist with program planning, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment. This is a seasonal contract requiring availability six days a week and relevant certifications.

Location is Torrance, Ontario with transportation options to camp. Start date is June 20, 2027; deadline to apply is December 6, 2026 at 11:59pm.

Qualifications

• First Aid and CPR certification as required by Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and YMCA policies.
• National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification required by first day of employment and valid through contract.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide Camp Counsellors and support a safe, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Day Camp Coordinator with monitoring Camp Counsellors and supporting staff in fulfilling their roles.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching and guidance to Camp Counsellors on program delivery.
• Plan programs for the camp season and assist with staff training to support high-quality program delivery.
• Support Camp Counsellors with program delivery per manuals, including activity setup and takedown, equipment organization, and access to materials.
• Assist with behaviour management and promote a positive, inclusive environment for campers and staff.
• Provide coverage for Counsellor breaks and staff absences as needed.
• Attend staff training sessions and contribute to staff development.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and assist with site maintenance.
