Position: Databricks Solution Architect

BIG is seeking a Databricks Solution Architect to join our Delivery team. As a Databricks SA, you will provide high-level architectural direction, address sophisticated technical challenges, and play a key role as a pre-sales engineering resource. You will partner with our customers to design scalable data architectures using Databricks technology and services. You have technical depth and business knowledge and can drive complex technology discussions to demonstrate the value of the Databricks platform throughout the sales lifecycle. You will engage with our customers' technical leads, including architects and developers, aiming to establish yourself as a trusted advisor to achieve tangible outcomes.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the end-to-end architecture of solutions centered around the Databricks Lakehouse Architecture, including its assembly and integration into the overall data architecture for our customers.
2. Define platform architecture documentation, data pipelines design, documentation, work-effort estimation, and hands-on sophisticated development.
3. Implement technical solutions for enterprise systems and build trust with customers in Databricks' ability to meet their business requirements.
4. Work with Sales and other partners to support account strategies and play a senior pre-sales engineer role to help customers grow their usage of the Databricks platform.
5. Build demo applications for prospects to demonstrate how Databricks can help achieve their goals, land new users, and expand use cases.
6. Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Developers to support AI and GenAI solutions development.
7. Stay updated on all developments in the Databricks platform to provide the latest advice to customers.
8. Guide on suitable frameworks, platform applications, or technical stacks to devise solutions.
9. Manage and mitigate technical risks, ensuring solutions can be delivered by the underlying technology components.
10. Conduct in-depth Databricks-specific code reviews to optimize resource utilization and capabilities.
11. Contribute to continuous improvement of Databricks products through technical input and field updates.
12. Test and document implementations clearly for easy understanding by others.
13. Provide mentorship on advanced Databricks technical capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role with expertise in at least one of the following technologies:
• Big data engineering (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
• Data Warehousing & ETL (e.g., SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS)
• Data Science and Machine Learning (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, HPO)
• Data Applications (e.g., Logs Analysis, Threat Detection, Real-time Systems Monitoring, Risk Analysis)
• 3+ years of direct experience with Databricks.
• At least one professional-level Databricks certification.
• Experience translating customer business needs into technological solutions and establishing stakeholder buy-in.
• Proven ability to design, architect, and present data systems and manage production solution delivery.
• Fluent in SQL and database technologies.
• Development experience in Python, Scala, Java, or R.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP.
• A degree in a quantitative discipline (preferred but not mandatory).
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills focused on customer-centric solutions.
• Effective project management with attention to deadlines and quality.
