Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced Database Architect with deep expertise in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance to lead enterprise database strategies and cloud transformation.

You will design migration approaches, define HA/DR standards, mentor teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable data platforms across ERP, CRM, and data warehouses.

Qualifications

• Senior years of experience in database architecture, database modernization, cloud migration, and enterprise data platform design.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI).
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design enterprise-scale database solutions on Azure.
• Provide expert guidance on Azure SQL Database vs SQL MI and related tradeoffs.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect with deep expertise in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI). The successful candidate will be responsible for defining enterprise database strategies, making architecture decisions on platform selection, designing migration approaches for legacy and modern applications, and leading cloud transformation initiatives across complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and design enterprise-scale database solutions on Azure.
• Provide expert guidance on when to use Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, Azure PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other database platforms and explain associated tradeoffs.
• Create database migration strategies for legacy, hybrid, and cloud-native applications.
• Design migration roadmaps from on-premises SQL Server, Oracle, and legacy databases to Azure.
• Lead modernization initiatives from monolithic applications to microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Define HA/DR, backup, security, governance, and performance standards.
• Conduct architecture reviews and mentor engineering teams.
• Collaborate with application architects, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders.

Required Technical Expertise

• Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI).
• SQL Server Administration and Architecture.
• Database Performance Tuning and Optimization.

• Azure Migration Services, DMS, and modernization frameworks.
• High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Replication, and Always On technologies.
• T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Query Optimization, and Indexing.
• Azure networking, security, identity, and governance.
• CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.

Migration & Modernization Expertise

• Design and execute database migrations for ERP, CRM, web applications, data warehouses, and mission-critical enterprise systems.
• Assess application dependencies and recommend optimal migration paths.
• Define rehost, replatform, refactor, and rebuild strategies.
• Create migration blueprints from legacy systems to modern cloud architectures.
• Evaluate business, cost, performance, availability, and security requirements when recommending target platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Database Administrator Associate.
• Experience with Agile delivery models and DevOps practices.
