Position Description

Your future duties and responsibilities

The Emerging Technologies team in CGI's Global Technology and Operations (GTO) Canada is a trusted advisor and implementation partner for our clients' data needs, specializing in Data, Cloud, and Advanced Analytics. We are an entrepreneurial team committed to positioning CGI as a leading Cloud and Data partner, developing new opportunities in the latest technologies. Our process involves understanding clients' business and data landscapes, assessing opportunities, and scaling solutions to maximize impact.

This is a hands-on architect role with leadership responsibilities over technical teams. As a Data Solutions Architect/Senior Data Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Leading client engagements hands-on and managing end-to-end project delivery
• Designing data architectures, pipelines, and flows based on requirements
• Developing data preparation, transformations, and ETL/ELT solutions on platforms like Azure, AWS, GCP, or Snowflake
• Creating solutions involving Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Delta Lakehouse Architectures; preparing proposals for ML/AI and Data projects
• Mentoring junior team members in Data Engineering, Data Science, and related fields
• Providing thought leadership to clients and within the industry

Additional responsibilities include:

• Collaborating strategically with clients to deliver foundational data solutions
• Developing robust Solution Architectures for various client needs
• Implementing data transformations and pipelines on-premises and in the cloud
• Building scalable data engineering solutions across cloud platforms
• Handling large, complex datasets from dispersed sources
• Applying advanced SQL and Python skills as needed
• Gathering requirements, coding, and leading small teams to implement solutions
• Creating proofs of concept and scaling successful solutions

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience in Solutions Architecture, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Data Science, with a total of 9+ years of professional experience
• Experience consulting with clients or stakeholders on Data and AI projects
• Proficiency with modern cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP
• Strong skills in data analysis, storage, pipelines, and orchestration
• Expertise in Python and SQL
• Experience working with Big Data technologies
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency in English; French is a plus

Nice To Have Qualifications

• Consulting experience
• Experience in proposal development and sales support
• Experience with ML projects
• Knowledge of data pipeline and workflow tools like Airflow, Jenkins
• Familiarity with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Dbt, Google Dataflow, Qlik Compose, AWS Data Pipeline/Glue, Talend, SSIS, IBM DataStage, Informatica
• Experience with GenAI projects is advantageous
