We are seeking a versatile and analytical Data Scientist / Operations Research Analyst to conduct advanced quantitative analysis and modeling in support of procedural improvements and performance optimization initiatives. This role bridges operations research, economics, machine learning, and simulation to inform strategic and tactical decisions across domains including transportation, health, security, environmental, and law enforcement sectors.

The ideal candidate will design and execute models, simulations, and decision-support tools while contributing to the definition and deployment of machine learning and data mining strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct quantitative analyses using operations research methods, economic modeling, and other data-driven techniques to evaluate performance and procedural implementations.
• Develop and refine analytical frameworks, simulation models, and data processing procedures to support real-world decision-making.
• Create, deploy, maintain, and optimize decision management models used in planning, forecasting, and performance evaluation.
• Assist in the development of machine learning and data mining strategies to extract insights from complex datasets and support predictive modeling.
• Apply modeling and simulation techniques to functions and operations such as exercises, coordination, planning, demonstrations, and instructional design for both military and civilian agencies.
• Translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for policy, operational improvements, or system design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to define data requirements and interpret model outputs.
• Prepare and present technical documentation, reports, briefings, and visualizations for a variety of audiences.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative field.
• Proven experience conducting operations research, data science, or simulation modeling in domains such as transportation, health, environmental systems, security, or public sector applications.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar.
• Experience with data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning frameworks, and simulation tools.
• Ability to design and deploy analytical solutions that support high-level decision-making and strategic planning.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting federal or military agencies with analytical or simulation-based decision support.
• Familiarity with decision management systems and tools (e.g., optimization solvers, agent-based simulation, system dynamics).
• Knowledge of FAA, DoD, or DHS operations is a plus.
