Position Summary

Thales, an Imperva Company, is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist who is curious about data. The ideal team member will show initiative, creatively identify problems, and solve them. Much of the work involves analyzing detection mechanisms in production, improving bot detection, and executing on that roadmap.

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Data curiosity: Proficient with analysis and processing of very large datasets.
2. Determination: Ability to overcome technical and organizational hurdles to solve problems.
3. Interest in threat detection/identification: Focused on staying ahead in an arms race situation, patching vulnerabilities, and developing new detection methods.
4. Customer focus: Willing to work with the codebase and provide value to customers.
5. Ability to execute: Demonstrated ability to complete tasks and work through impediments.
6. Staying informed: Keep up with developments in Data Science, statistics, and related fields, and implement research ideas.

Minimum Requirements

1. Advanced degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
2. Extensive experience in data analysis.
3. Experience with software fundamentals: command line, version control, pull request review, software maintenance, etc.
4. Proficiency in Python, R, or Julia (Python preferred).
5. Knowledge of data processing libraries like Pandas or R’s tidyverse.
6. Understanding of SQL and data visualization.
7. Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

The anticipated TTC range for this role is CAD $85,600 - 130,000 annually. The company reserves the right to pay more or less and offer additional benefits depending on circumstances.
