Thales, a leader in identity management and data protection solutions, is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist who is ever curious about data. We expect this team member to show initiative and creatively find problems as well as solve them. Much of the work of this team is analyzing detection mechanisms in production and then figuring out how to make advances in bot detection, followed by executing on that roadmap.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Data curiosity: Proficient with analysis and processing of very large datasets.

  • Determination: Solve problems through technical and organizational hurdles.

  • Interest in threat detection/identification: Patch vulnerabilities in existing detection methods and develop new techniques.

  • Customer focus: Work with the codebase and provide value to our customers.

  • Ability to execute: Demonstrated ability to get things done and work through impediments.

  • Staying informed: Keep up with developments in Data Science, statistics, and related fields.

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience performing data analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience with software fundamentals: command line, version control, pull request review, software maintenance, etc.

  • Proficiency in analytical programming in Python, R, or Julia (Python preferred).

  • In-depth knowledge of data processing and analysis libraries such as Pandas or R’s tidyverse.

  • In-depth understanding of SQL and data visualization.

  • Working knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

The anticipated salary range for this role is CAD $85,600 - 130,000 annually. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
