At Four Seasons, we are powered by people and our culture enables everything we do.The Data Scientist plays a pivotal role within our Data Science capability, part of the Data & Analytics function in the Technology Innovation & Data (TID) department, supporting Commercial and enterprise-wide initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic priorities by building and deploying AI/ML solutions. This is a unique opportunity to apply data science in an agile environment to address practical business use cases. The Data Scientist will follow Four Seasons' technical standards, collaborate with the Data Hub teams, and build production-ready machine learning models from successful prototypes.
This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto Corporate Office, reporting to the Manager, Data Science. This role involves interactions with primarily internal stakeholders at various levels.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design Data Science Prototypes Supporting Strategic Priorities
Develop AI / ML Model Prototypes Supporting Strategic Priorities: Design and develop data science models to support strategic activations across Guest Loyalty, Customer Experience, CRM, Clienteling, Digital, and Brand.
Feature Engineering and Model Tuning: Optimize model performance for classification, propensity, segmentation, sentiment, LLMs, forecasting tailored to the specific business use case.
Natural Language Processing (NLP): Apply NLP techniques to process unstructured data (e.g., chat, call transcripts) and generate insights to improve guest experience and operational efficiency.
Production Model Enhancements: Design and implement production model enhancements to address the changing needs of the business.
Data Selection and Validation: Select and validate datasets in partnership with domain experts to ensure data is fit for use before modeling.
Data Wrangling and Visualization: Wrangle data, perform analysis, and create visualizations to present insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration: Collaborate with Governance leaders and ensure alignment with enterprise practices.
Methodologies and Standards: Follow delivery methodologies and documentation standards.
Peer Code Reviews: Conduct peer code reviews and collaborate with third parties as needed during prototyping.
Machine Learning Deployments
Machine Learning Deployments: Develop, test, optimize, and productionize ML models and supporting data pipelines.
Process Automation: Automate processes for predictive model validation and QA.
Deployment Management: Manage staged deployments, QA, and version control for controlled releases.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor production ML performance and compare competing models.
CI/CD Framework: Follow deployment framework and CI/CD to enhance capabilities.
Coding Guidelines: Define and promote coding guidelines to improve code quality
Partner with IT in Operationalizing Data Science prototypes and following Four Seasons Standards
Technical Direction: Follow technical guidance from Enterprise Data Architect and Data Engineering team.
UAT: Validate Data Engineering work to ensure it meets prototype objectives and long-term requirements.

What You Bring
2-5 years of working experience in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics and Statistics.
University degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or substantial coursework in relevant quantitative field.
Technical Competencies
Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud platforms, particularly MS Azure (Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, Blob Storage).
Programming: Proficient Python, PySpark, SQL, R and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for solution delivery.
Data Wrangling: Expertise in structuring, cleansing, merging, enriching, validating, and publishing data for discovery and use case development.
Integration: Knowledge of Databricks / Azure orchestration tools and experience automating scripts with MLflow, Data Factory, and ML pipelines.
ML Optimization: Skilled in optimizing ML model training scripts to minimize computation runtime and resource usage.
Automation and Deployments: Experience in automation and deployments of predictive model training and inference.
CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD principles and software engineering best practices in Azure, including version control (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
NLP Techniques: Skilled in deploying and optimizing NLP models for large-scale text analysis, including sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and text classification.
Data Visualization: Experience with visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
