Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and analytical solutions that drive innovation in the Commercial and Small Business portfolio.

You'll analyze large datasets, collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and communicate findings with clear visualizations while ensuring data governance and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree required in data science, CS, statistics, math, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, ML, or similar role.
  • Proficiency with Python, R, SQL and ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong problem-solving, statistics, and data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
  • Develop and implement ML models and algorithms to address business problems.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into insights.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences with clear visuals and reports.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team at RBC, where you will leverage data-driven insights to solve complex business challenges. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and analytical solutions that drive innovation and strategic decision-making across the organization. You'll be working to develop new and extend existing applications in the RBC Commercial and Small business portfolio.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms to address specific business problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data engineers, product managers, business stakeholders) to translate requirements into actionable insights.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences through clear visualizations and reports.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with RBC's data governance standards.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve analytical capabilities.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
  • Must have:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in data science, machine learning, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, SQL) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, statistical knowledge, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Nice-to-have :
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
