Job summary

The University of Ottawa seeks two Teaching Assistant positions for the Data Science Applications course (DTI5125/GNG5125) at Main Campus during the 2027 Winter Semester. Duties include student contact, grading, and proctoring with a total of 65 hours.

Applicants must be enrolled in a thesis-based Computer Engineering program with GPA above 3.0 and possess strong Python, Jupyter, ML libraries, Git, and SQL skills. Prior TA experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Python, Jupyter Notebook and ML libraries (TensorFlow, Weka).
• Familiar with open-source ML libraries and APIs.
• Practical software engineering and programming experience; data-driven project involvement is a plus.
• Past TA/Demonstrator experience in Data Science or stats courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contact with students during labs.
• Grading and notation of student work.
• Proctoring exams.
• Prepare and support course activities and sessions.
