Job description

Our client is a top financial institution with significant North American holdings. They have operations across most major verticals, including institutional & corporate, wealth management, private client, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking.

Contract Period: 15 months

Location: Toronto, ON

Location Type: Hybrid; 2 days onsite, Wednesday is the anchor, the other day is flexible

Business Hours: Monday to Friday; Core Business Hours

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure the Line of Business (LOB) adheres to data related policies, standards and meets requirements set out by the Enterprise Data and Information Management Policy and Standards
• Govern and provide oversight of data under their stewardship, acting as a focal point for data governance within the Line of Business
• Provide advice and support to business owners in development and implementation of action plans for issue resolution
• Review and escalate data risks and issues as needed
• Lead the oversight of data issue resolution and drive data issue governance processes within the LOB
• Support multiple Lines of Business and other Data Stewards as required
• Provide guidance to the Business on activities such as identifying and managing data issues to resolution, assessment of controls to mitigate risk, and data retention and disposition
• Provide data governance expertise to key business, enterprise and control partners to support the governance and oversight of data
• Support projects, ensuring projects meet required data governance and management policies and standards
• Work effectively with multiple teams across a broad spectrum of initiatives and functional domains, influencing and aligning others as needed

Experience & Qualification Requirements:

• Solid understanding of data governance principles and an understanding of data risk and data management
• Strong Communication skills
• Able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand business language
• Strong excel skills
