Job summary

Canadian Natural is seeking a Data Provisioning Student in Calgary to join a dynamic team of data professionals. You will develop tools to streamline application support and enable data provisioning for analytics, using C#, Python, SQL, and vendor tools such as Informatica and Databricks.

The role involves building data conversion scripts, developing reports in Power BI/Tableau/SSRS, and scheduling jobs with Orchestrator.

Qualifications

• Preference for 2nd year undergrad in Information Systems.
• Passion for data; familiarity with SQL and Oracle SQL Developer.
• Familiar with Power BI, Tableau, Python, C#, and related analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop application/integration components to automate and streamline business processes using C#, Python, SQL and vendor tools like Informatica, Databricks, Azure Data Factory.
• Develop data conversion scripts to load data from external sources and fix data quality issues.
• Create analytic reports using Power BI, Tableau or SSRS.
• Develop job schedules using orchestration tools like Orchestrator.
• Estimate development effort for new or modified components.
• Maintain technical specs and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and fix day-to-day application/SQL issues.
• Manage data access for SSRS, Tableau and Power BI users.

As our Data Provisioning Student, you will join our dynamic team of data professionals to develop new tools to streamline application support on information management and enable data provisioning to promote data analytics at Canadian Natural.

• Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
• Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
• Term length: 12 months
• Term start: January 2027
• Term type: Part-time & Full-time
  • January – April: Part-time
  • May – August: Full-time
  • September – December: Part-time (part-time being a maximum of 20 hours per week.)
• Safety sensitive position: No

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop application/integration components to automate and streamline business processes and functions using C#, Python, SQL, other scripting language as well as vendor tools like Informatica, Databricks, Azure Data Factory and others
• Develop data conversion scripts to load data from external sources, and correct data quality or integrity problems
• Develop analytic reports using Power BI, Tableau or SSRS
• Develop job schedules using tools like Orchestrator
• Develop estimates of effort for development of, and/or modification to, application/integration components
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation
• Troubleshoot, debug and fix problems that occur in the everyday use of an application/interface or SQL query
• Administer data access for SSRS, Tableau and Power BI users

What You Bring to the Role:

• Preference for 2nd year of an undergraduate degree in Information Systems
• A passion for data
• Familiar with SQL and database query tools such as Oracle SQL Developer an asset
• Familiarity with one or more of the following technologies an asset:
  • DevOps, Microsoft VB.NET/ASP.Net, C#, Microsoft Visual Studio, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft Composite UI Application, Remedy, Application Manager (Appworx), Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, Orchestrator, MS Azure, Python, Scala, Databricks, Synapse, data lakes and delta lakes, and Informatica
