Job summary

EY Canada’s Cybersecurity practice seeks an experienced Manager for the Data Protection team. The role focuses on developing and implementing data protection strategies, conducting assessments, and leading DLP initiatives for clients.

The candidate will guide cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and ensure regulatory compliance across GDPR/CCPA landscapes while advancing data governance and security programs.

Qualifications

  • Extensive Cybersecurity Experience: 5+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 4 years in data protection strategy development and assessments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field;
  • In-depth knowledge of the DLP vendor landscape and implementing DLP solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and leading practices.
  • Proven project management skills, including scoping, resourcing, and delivering complex cybersecurity projects.
  • Leadership Skills: lead project teams, manage resources, and mentor consultants.
  • Client Relationship Management: support client engagements, understand needs, and guide solutions.
  • Strategic Thinker: analyze protection landscapes and identify risks to propose proactive solutions.
  • Innovative Problem Solver: apply creative technical solutions with governance and security controls.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and documentations.
  • Certifications: CISSP, CIPP/C, CDPSE or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Data Protection Strategy Development: design and implement comprehensive data protection strategies.
  • Risk Assessments: identify vulnerabilities and mitigate data protection risks.
  • DLP Implementation: lead tailored DLP solutions for clients.
  • Vendor Management: evaluate DLP vendors and select best-fit solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Training and Awareness: develop programs to raise policy awareness.
  • Regulatory Compliance: stay updated on data protection regulations.
  • Team Leadership: mentor junior staff and foster learning.
