Job summary

Avanade is seeking a Data Protection Consultant to lead delivery of data protection and governance solutions for clients in Canada. You will design Microsoft Purview-based architectures, conduct threat mapping, and guide junior team members through complex security and compliance initiatives.

You will facilitate workshops, own design decisions, and contribute to proposals and risk management while scaling secure, compliant data practices across engagements.

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead client engagements focused on data protection and data governance.
• Design and implement Purview solutions (sensitivity labeling, DLP, Purview DSPM, retention controls).
• Perform threat mapping and gap analysis across data types and environments.
• Facilitate workshops to translate requirements into secure Microsoft-based solutions.
• Own solution design decisions, configuration, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical mentorship to Analysts; lead workstreams or small teams.
• Contribute to estimations, delivery planning, and risk management.
• Support solutioning efforts, proposals, and internal capability development.
• Build awareness and controls.

What you’ll do

• Perform threat mapping and gap analysis across structured, unstructured, cloud, and on-premises data.
• Facilitate client workshops and stakeholder discussions to translate requirements into scalable, secure Microsoft-based solutions.
• Own solution design decisions, configuration, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical mentorship to Analysts and Senior Analysts; lead workstreams or small teams.
• Contribute to estimations, delivery planning, and risk management.
• Support solutioning efforts, proposals, and internal capability development.
