Job summary

Acceldata in Canada is seeking a Software Engineer with 3+ years in distributed systems or data platform development to design, build, and scale components of the Open Data Platform. You will contribute to open-source technologies and address large-scale data infrastructure challenges.

You will collaborate with senior engineers to deliver features, ensure robust deployment on Linux-based environments, and work across Bare Metals, VM, and Kubernetes landscapes.

Qualifications

• Mandatory proficiency in Linux for deployment and execution.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud environments is a plus.
• Proficient in Java or Scala and Python for building scalable software.
• Experience with project build models (Maven, Gradle, SBT).
• Experience with Github & Nexus management and usage.
• Strong coding, debugging, and troubleshooting skills for reliable software.
• Solid understanding of thread/process management, databases, virtualization, and distributed computing.
• Proven track record from prior projects described in CV/resume.
• Fluent English communication.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain code for the Open Source Data Platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement features.
• Utilize Linux skills for deployment and operation.
• Write clean, well-tested code in Java, Python, or Scala.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Debug and resolve issues to ensure performance and stability.
• Keep up-to-date with industry practices and emerging tech.
