Working for the Canadian VIGOUR Centre

The Canadian VIGOUR Centre (CVC) is an Academic Research Organization (ARO) committed to enhancing cardiovascular health. Our centre provides leadership in clinical trials of cardiovascular therapies from study design to manuscript publication, developing selected registries, and informing clinical practice through insights gained from population health data. The CVC is anchored by a dedicated group of internationally recognized thought leaders in cardiovascular medicine and clinical investigation and supported by accomplished administrative and clinical operations teams and experienced biostatisticians, data analysts, and ECG Core Laboratory personnel.

Position Summary

The Data Management Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing clinical data management activities for regulated clinical trials at the Canadian VIGOUR Centre (CVC). Working within a high-performance academic research environment, the incumbent ensures all data management processes align with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and applicable regulatory standards. As the primary point of contact for clinical data operations, this position collaborates with investigators, sponsors, and research teams to design, build, validate, and manage electronic data capture (EDC) systems—especially REDCap—and ensures data quality, security, and compliance throughout the clinical research data lifecycle.

Duties

Project Management

  • Leads clinical data management for multiple clinical trials, including industry-sponsored, investigator-initiated, and pragmatic studies, ensuring alignment with GCP and regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborates with project teams to scope, plan, and deliver clinical research data management solutions, including REDCap database builds, coding plans, and quality assurance strategies.
  • Develops project timelines and cost estimates for database development, ensuring feasibility based on study complexity and sponsor requirements.

Administrative

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for all health research data activities, maintaining accurate records for audit readiness and cost recovery.
  • Develops and implements standardized operating procedures (SOPs) related to clinical data management and EDC workflows.
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize workflows, improve data quality, and reduce risks across the clinical data lifecycle.

Technical

  • Oversees implementation and validation of electronic data capture (EDC) systems, with a focus on REDCap.
  • Evaluates new technologies and digital tools to enhance clinical trial data collection, coding, and reporting processes.
  • Ensures data integrity, privacy, and security in accordance with Health Canada, FDA, EMA, and institutional policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical informatics, clinical research, information science, computing science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in clinical data management, including the implementation of data entry tools (such as REDCap) that ensure data completeness and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, and regulatory compliance in clinical trials.
  • Hands-on experience managing data across the research data lifecycle, including data collection, validation, analysis, and secure retention in health research contexts.
  • Strong understanding of database testing, data standards, and metadata documentation for clinical research systems.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of Data Management Plans, SOP's and training documents is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of specialized training or certification in clinical data management, REDCap administration, or GCP compliance is an asset.
  • Experience with clinical data coding systems (e.g., ICD-9/10, MedDRA, ATC) and secure data transfer protocols in a clinical trials setting.
  • Familiarity with programming or query languages (e.g., SQL, SAS, or R) used in clinical data analysis
