Job summary

Tech Talent International (TTI) is seeking a Data Governance Lead for a 6–12 month engagement in Montreal, QC. The role focuses on establishing enterprise-wide governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include defining ownership, data catalogs, lineage, and KPIs; collaborating with Security and Compliance; and leading governance audits and training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Data Management or related field.
  • 8+ years in Data Management, Data Governance, or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years leading enterprise data governance initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of DAMA-DMBOK and industry-standard data management frameworks.
  • Experience implementing Data Governance and Data Catalog platforms (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Purview).
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

  • Define and maintain data governance operating models, processes, and controls.
  • Implement data quality frameworks, metrics, and monitoring processes.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage enterprise data catalogs and metadata repositories.
  • Ensure proper data classification, lineage, and governance of critical data assets.
  • Promote data discoverability, accessibility, and usability across business functions.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, SOX, HIPAA, and other standards.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance teams to establish data protection controls.
  • Conduct governance audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define critical data elements and governance requirements.
  • Facilitate Data Governance Council meetings and steering committees.
  • Provide education, guidance, and training on data governance policies and standards.
  • Develop governance KPIs, dashboards, and maturity assessments.
  • Provide governance reporting to senior leadership.

Role: Data Governance Lead

Rate Range: $70 -72/hr C2C (40 hrs /week)

Duration: 6-12 months

Role Overview

Job Title: Data Governance Lead
Job Description: Data Governance Lead responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls to ensure data quality, integrity, security, compliance, and effective data lifecycle management across the organization.
Location: MONTREAL, QUEBEC

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement enterprise data governance strategies, policies, standards, and frameworks.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across the organization.
  • Define and maintain data governance operating models, processes, and controls.
  • Implement data quality frameworks, metrics, and monitoring processes.

Core Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience leading enterprise data governance initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of DAMA-DMBOK and industry-standard data management frameworks.
  • Experience implementing and managing Data Governance and Data Catalog platforms such as:

    • Alation
    • Microsoft Purview
  • Strong experience with:
    • Data Governance

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, data lifecycle management, and governance best practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Experience driving enterprise-wide data governance adoption and compliance programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data transformation and modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, privacy, and data protection frameworks.
