TD Bank Group seeks a data engineer to translate requirements into robust data pipelines and governance. You will ensure ingestion, curation, and consumption of data, while clarifying designs that support analytics strategies.
The role requires building data models, managing metadata, and validating data flows across the data warehouse. Applicants should have strong SQL, cloud data platform experience (Azure), and exposure to PySpark, with Agile delivery experience.
Work Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Hours: 37.5 Line of Business: Technology Solutions Pay Details: $69,700 - $98,400 CAD This role is eligible for a discretionary variable compensation award that considers business and individual performance. Gather and translate business data extraction and consumption requirements into technical specifications.
Ensure proper data ingestion, curation, and consumption.
Clarify solution designs that support business strategies and analytical initiatives, especially when requirements are unclear.
Document, prototype and validate current and future state data flow processes.
Provide subject matter expertise by identifying relevant business processes affecting data curation and explaining their impact on data.
Experienced working professional role providing specialized business support, within their own area of specialty Requires experienced, conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and fluent in at least one programming language Lead projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities processes and functional programs Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area Experience working with very large datasets and familiarity with big data technologies Able to work with minimal direction on multiple projects and priorities Keep abreast of rapid business and technology innovation within business information management field Familiar with visualization tools Generally reports to a Senior / Manager role
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Engineering, Mathematics, Analytics or a related field 3+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, data management, data analysis, business systems analysis, data modeling, or a related technical discipline Strong SQL skills with experience performing data profiling, reconciliation, analysis, and troubleshooting across large datasets. Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and related Azure services. Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark, with hands-on experience developing, validating, and troubleshooting data pipelines, transformations, and scalable data solutions. Experience working with ETL/ELT frameworks, data pipelines, and cloud-based data processing solutions. Experience validating data solutions through data profiling, reconciliation, quality assurance, and root cause analysis to ensure alignment with business requirements and data quality standards. Strong analytical mindset, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple upstream and downstream data sources. Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve productivity, code quality, data analysis, and solution delivery. Experience working within Agile delivery environments, utilizing Agile tools and ceremonies, and collaborating with business stakeholders, engineers, and quality engineering teams. Insurance industry experience is considered an asset.
