Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for a on-site freelance/contract role in Kamloops, Canada. You will support mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities, performing hardware installations, migrations, and ongoing support.

This role requires hands-on data center or IT infrastructure experience, strong cabling skills, and the ability to work independently on-site with professional English communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in data center or IT infrastructure.
• Strong cabling skills (Copper and Fiber).
• Experience with server hardware (Dell/HP/Supermicro).
• Professional English communication.
• Willingness to work on-site in Kamloops.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations.
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
• Rack, stack, and label servers.
• Do cross-connects and patch panel work.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues.
• Document work with photos and detailed notes.
• Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams.
• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, fiber types).
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro).
• Lift 50+ lbs and work on raised floors.
• Own transportation and on-site availability.
• Professional English communication.
• CDCP/CDCS or similar certifications preferred.
• CCNA or CompTIA Network+ preferred.
• DCIM and ticketing system experience preferred.
• Familiarity with major colocation providers preferred.
• Tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for freelance/contract work in Kamloops, Canada. This is an on-site position supporting mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities.

Compensation

C$26-36/hr (CAD hourly)

Rates vary based on experience level and project complexity. Emergency and after-hours work may qualify for premium rates.
