Job summary

Reboot Monkey is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for contract work in Halifax, Canada. The role is on-site to support mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities, with compensation of CAD 26–36 per hour.

The engagement is contract/freelance with flexible scheduling and a mix of project-based or ongoing support, including remote hands and smart hands services. Key responsibilities include installations, cabling, server racking, and close coordination with NOC

Qualifications

• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber).
• Professional communication skills in English.
• Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) - preferred.
• Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - preferred.
• Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems - preferred.
• Familiarity with major colocation providers - preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations.
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
• Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling.
• Perform cross-connects and patch panel work.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues.
• Document all work with photos and detailed notes.
• Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams.

About The Role
