Job summary

IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. The Data Center Technician will monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the physical compute infrastructure in our Mackenzie data center.

This role requires IT certification or degree, Linux CLI experience, and strong collaboration across multiple data center sites on a rotating shift. The team emphasizes innovation, safety, and continuous improvement to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

  • Requires a diploma, degree, or certification in IT or a closely related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CDCP, CCNA are an advantage.
  • Ability to diagnose complex issues in high-performance computing environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, remote system management, and automation frameworks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; team collaboration across data center sites.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimize high-density GPU and accelerator environments.
  • Design and scale next-gen infrastructure from cooling to power distribution and automation.
  • Partner with engineering teams to deploy hardware and software stacks.
  • Drive operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Reporting to the Data Center Technical Lead, the Data Center Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the physical compute infrastructure in our data center.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma, degree, or recognized certification in Information Technology or a closely related field is required. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CDCP, CCNA are an advantage
  • Ability to understand and assist in diagnosing complex issues related to high-performance computing environments
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, remote system management, and infrastructure automation frameworks
  • Prior experience with command-line interfaces (CLI), particularly in Linux environments
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow standardized operating procedures
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, supporting the effective operation of people and systems across multiple data center sites
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Strong personal integrity, openness, and professional honesty
  • Ability to develop innovative, practical solutions to technical challenges
  • Excellent organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills

This role requires availability for a rotational shift schedule including day, night, and weekend coverage. Candidates must be comfortable working overnight and maintaining productivity during off-peak hours. A shift premium may apply.

  • The hourly rate of pay range for this position is $27-36/hour
  • Total package may be inclusive of a night shift premium for rotational shift positions
