Accountabilities
- Develop database and big data solutions by designing data architectures, including business architecture definition, data storage, data analytics, data transformation, and data access.
- Provide technical guidance and partner with Business Systems Analysts to translate business needs into solution design.
- Create, maintain, and communicate logical and physical data models.
- Conform to data architecture design standards and frameworks.
- Collaborate with data engineers to design scalable and user-friendly solutions.
- Oversee implementation of business solutions and ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Architect modern cloud data platforms, data lakes, and data fabrics with integration to existing environments.
- Act as subject matter expert in data sources, reporting workflows, business processes, and data analysis tools.
- Establish data management processes including data lineage, profiling, quality, stewardship and governance.
- Promote Information Management by partnering with stakeholders to support analytics solutions aligned to roadmaps.
- Foster a collaborative, mentoring culture and partner with Data Architects across teams to achieve shared goals.
Position Requirements
- Proficiency in designing data architectures for cloud and on-premises systems using established frameworks and methodologies.
- Extensive experience with data modeling for Big Data (e.g., Spark, Hive, Cassandra, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Experience architecting complex data pipelines.
- Advanced SQL and analytical skills with large / complex datasets.
- Expertise in data ingestion, storage, processing, and data management best practices.
- Extensive experience leading projects / teams to implement data warehouses, data marts, or data lakes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of relevant business processes and ability to stay informed of changes.
- Proactive in driving delivery and business value.
- Working knowledge of systems such as Guidewire Claim Center and Policy Center, SAP Finance, IBM, Oracle, Control-M, and JIRA is an asset.
- Experience with Data Engineering tools (Spark SQL, Scala, Python) and visualization tools (Tableau) is a plus.

- Hybrid 8 – minimum 8 days in 4 weeks at primary office; rest remote within BC.
- Hybrid 10 – minimum 10 days in 4 weeks; rest remote within BC.
- Mobile – field time with office and remote work possibilities within BC.
- Remote – remote from within BC with monthly visit to primary office.
