Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect in Ottawa to lead the design of enterprise data models across Microsoft Fabric and Azure data platforms. You will establish governance principles, standards, and scalable data integration patterns while implementing Purview capabilities for metadata management, lineage, and data cataloging.

You will also develop business glossary, ontology, taxonomy, and semantic models, enabling analytics-ready and AI-ready data foundations

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data architecture and data management.
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Fabric architecture and Purview governance implementations.
• Strong experience with Data Vault 2.0, Medallion Architecture, Lakehouse, and data lake design principles.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, OneLake, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience building business glossaries, ontology, taxonomy, and enterprise governance frameworks.
• TOGAF or similar certification or Purview implementation experience is a plus.

• Lead the design of conceptual, logical, and physical enterprise data models for Fabric and Azure platforms.
• Establish principles, standards, governance processes, and scalable data integration patterns.
• Design and implement Purview capabilities: metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, and governance workflows.
• Develop business glossary, ontology, taxonomy, and semantic-layer standards for enterprise governance.
• Enable analytics-ready and AI-ready data foundations using Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, and Data Vault 2.0.
• Collaborate to integrate Purview with Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, OneLake, and Microsoft 365 services.

Your Responsibilities

• You'll lead the design of conceptual, logical, and physical enterprise data models and target-state architecture for Microsoft Fabric and Azure data platforms.
• You'll establish enterprise architecture principles, standards, governance processes, and scalable data integration, transformation, and consumption patterns.
• You'll design and implement Microsoft Purview capabilities, including metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, classifications, stewardship, and governance workflows.
• You'll develop business glossary, ontology, taxonomy, semantic-layer standards, and enterprise data governance controls.
• You'll enable analytics-ready and AI-ready data foundations through Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, and Data Vault 2.0 design patterns.
• You'll collaborate with stakeholders to integrate Purview with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, OneLake, and Microsoft 365 services.

Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data architecture and enterprise data management.
• Demonstrated expertise designing Microsoft Fabric architecture and implementing Microsoft Purview governance solutions.
• Strong experience with Data Vault 2.0, Medallion Architecture, Lakehouse, and Data Lake design principles.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, OneLake, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience developing business glossaries, ontology, taxonomy, semantic models, and enterprise governance frameworks.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification, Microsoft Fabric certification, or Purview implementation experience is considered an asset.
• Experience supporting large enterprise or public sector data governance, analytics modernization, or AI enablement initiatives is highly desirable.
