Job summary

Libro Credit Union in London, Ontario, is hiring a full-time Data Analyst to support the London Administration team. You will lead research and analytic activities, retrieve and organize large data sets, and develop strategic insights to drive business goals.

The role requires advanced SQL skills, experience with BI tools (Tableau/Power BI), and programming in R or Python. You will collaborate across partners and mentor junior analysts while upholding data governance and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Math, Statistics or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems analysis, programming, and database management.
  • Experience solving analytical problems with large, high-volume data from multiple sources.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop research and analysis for strategic projects.
  • Improve data validity, reliability, and reporting for business initiatives.
  • Source, manage and implement data from third parties as needed.
  • Data analysis, mining, modelling, cleansing, migration and mapping.
  • Develops and implements report specifications and production datasets.
  • Present findings in meetings and presentations.

We are currently hiring a full-time Data Analyst to support our London Administration team. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.

The Data Analyst’s primary responsibility is to lead research and analytic activities to solve a wide range of business problem. They will retrieve and gather vast amounts of data, organize it and use it to reach meaningful conclusions. They will exercise their knowledge of statistical techniques, analytics skills and database analysis tools and techniques to develop strategic insights to drive business goals. Data Analyst are more excited about what they can learn with data, than they are about what is already known.

The Role
  • Collaborate with Internal partners to develop and execute research and analysis for strategic projects.
  • Contribute to enhancing the validity, reliability and accuracy of data and information utilized in support of business initiatives.
  • Source, manage and implement data from third parties, as required.
  • Data analysis, mining, modelling, cleansing, migration and mapping.
  • Collect, review, analyze, evaluate and prioritize reporting requirements.
  • Develops and implements report specifications including coding, testing and implementation into production environment.
  • Create datasets and/or reports for high-level analytics, including but not limited to data cubes for modeling trends, business reviews and/or analytics.
  • Present your findings with good presentation through meetings and/or presentations.
  • Ensures high quality automation techniques are applied and detailed procedures are in place
  • Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Advise on current development tools and their best uses. Research new technologies to understand and make recommendations where these technologies may help solve business requirements.
  • Develop strategies for data related glossaries, data dictionaries and data flow diagrams with deep understanding of data governance in mind.
  • Work collaboratively with strategic, third-party partners and vendors on analytical requirements projects.
  • Provide expertise to other departments to analyze data, develop statistical models, and make recommendations on initiatives and projects.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the analytics team.
What We’re Looking For
  • Graduate or postgraduate university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, with 5-7 years of experience in systems analysis, programming, database management, and extensive business knowledge.
  • Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches and working with complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data from multiple sources.
  • Advanced skills with SQL Server Management Studio, including stored procedures, views, functions, and ad hoc database queries, MS SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Recognized expertise in one or more reporting/visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Power Pivot/Map.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, graphs, mathematical formulas, and statistical add-ins.
  • Strong analytical and coding skills in R, Python, or similar languages are an asset.
  • Knowledge of OLAP database technology and data modelling, with experience in MDX and DAX an asset.
  • Experience with SSIS, SSAS, ETL processes, SQL Agent jobs, and related integration and data management tools.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.NET and VB.NET is an asset.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
