What You Will Be Doing

CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients worldwide. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities, and growth markets, aiming to build a strong, innovative, relationship-oriented bank.

Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) was launched in 2013 to develop innovative, technology-driven capital markets solutions. ASG combines the agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength of a major institution, recognized globally for disruptive solutions in areas like Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, and Foreign Cash. Our client base includes major banks, corporates, and retail clients.

We are hiring for the Global Payment Services (GPS) team, a leading product in ASG, which enables clients to send and receive funds globally in various currencies and payment methods.

Note: This role requires full-time on-site presence at our Toronto location.

How You'll Succeed
  1. Data Engineering, Development, and Delivery: Communicate goals clearly with stakeholders, collaborate with engineering, design, and risk teams, translate business needs into user stories, and monitor product performance to drive continuous improvement.
  2. Advancing the Data Analytics Pipeline: Work with product teams to prioritize features, identify new revenue opportunities, and assess technology platforms for scalable systems.
  3. Leveraging Analytical Skills: Use data analytics tools to interpret complex data, monitor product metrics, and conduct research to identify trends and opportunities.
  4. Collaboration and Team Support: Support team members, foster stakeholder relationships, and ensure alignment with product goals.
Who You Are
  • Degree: Undergraduate in STEM fields (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of technology, foreign exchange, payments, and capital markets
  • Experience: 1-2 years in data science, analytics, or similar roles
  • Skills: Proficient in SQL, Python/R, data cleaning, machine learning, PowerBI; familiarity with AI frameworks is a plus
  • Values: Trust, teamwork, accountability, and authenticity
