Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Data Analyst reports to the Director, and is an integral member of the team. The Analyst assists in the creationand dissemination of surveillance and performance measurement information to Island Health, provincial, andnational stakeholders. This work involves operation and maintenance of surveillance and performance measurementsdatabases, development and maintenance of associated supporting documentation, research, data quality audits andstatistical analysis under limited supervision and in accordance with established standards and procedures. Performsdata analysis, prepares and submits statistical reports and promotes the use of best practices in data managementand data quality. Monitors work quality and efficiency, assesses and responds to written and verbal requests forinformation, and facilitates access to information from external organizations. Prepares and conducts education andpresentation sessions.
The Analyst provides planning and analytical support for specific provincial/national requirements, projects and initiatives as determined by the clinical team in consultation with the medical lead and Director. These projects are often related to more detailed planning projects associated with specific strategic priorities.
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Health Science or other relevant discipline or field of study, and three years' recent related experience working within the health system in an analytical or planning capacity.
