Job description

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Data Analyst to attend all agile ceremonies, action user stories assigned work, book/attend meetings with business partners, and contribute/engage in internal meetings. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in the Role:

• Analyze and document existing processes within a legacy system.
• Understand and map out all current workflows, dependencies, and data flow.
• Collaborate closely with the technical lead, project lead, and team members to design and implement new, optimized processes and data pipelines that align with modern architecture and business needs.

Must-Have Skills:

• Proficient in SQL and knowledge of relational database concepts and design—manipulate and summarize data, perform analytics, and data testing leveraging SQL queries.
• Ability to independently data mine across all data sources.
• Proficient in SAS knowledge.
• Extensive experience working with a team to design, develop, and implement various reporting capabilities utilizing BI technologies such as Tableau, Microsoft Reporting Services, Oracle BI, or Power BI.
• Thorough working knowledge of DWE – data warehouse (e.g., IDM, EDW).
• Business acumen (minimum 5-7 years).
• Proven SQL knowledge (minimum 3-5 years).
• SAS knowledge (minimum 2-4 years).
• OBIEE OAS Reporting Suite experience (minimum 4-6 years).
• Proven analytical capabilities (minimum 3-5 years).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Background in BI reporting.
• Prior experience in the banking industry.
• Power BI knowledge.
• Python knowledge.

Soft Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to support ongoing communication.

Education:
