Job summary

IAMGOLD Corporation seeks a D65 Drill/Pit Viper Operator for the Côté Gold operation near Gogama, Ontario. You will run the drill fleet, ensure safety, and support production targets while maintaining data accuracy and reporting any issues.

The role requires 5+ years of open pit drilling experience, including SmartROC D65 or Pit Viper 231, with a valid driver’s license and willingness to work in a heavy equipment environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• 5+ years of experience operating manual, remote and/or autonomous drilling rigs in open pit mining.
• Experience operating SmartROC D65 drills or Epiroc Pit Viper 231 drills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the drilling schedule in alignment with the integrated plan while minimizing delays and maintaining operational efficiency.
• Monitor performance against operational benchmarks and investigate variances.
• Maximize equipment productivity by reporting maintenance issues and ensuring data integrity.
• Identify opportunities to improve drill fleet performance and support skill development.
• Collaborate with team to coordinate activities and achieve shift targets.
• Provide guidance and support to team members and strengthen overall performance.
• Maintain clear communication and accurate documentation of logs and deficiencies.

The Drill Operator is based in Gogama reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor. This role is responsible for in-shift performance, safety, and productivity of the drill fleet. This role directly supports IMG’s purpose by ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable drilling operations. By maintaining consistent production and minimizing downtime, the Drill Operator contributes to operational excellence and the responsible delivery of resources that drive long‑term value.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the drilling schedule in alignment with the integrated plan while minimizing delays and maintaining operational efficiency.
• Monitor performance against operational benchmarks, identify variances, and investigate root causes of production shortfalls.
• Maximize equipment productivity by accurately reporting maintenance issues and ensuring data integrity within operational systems.
• Actively identify opportunities to improve drill fleet performance and support continuous learning and skill development.
• Recognize and communicate inefficiencies or risks, applying a balanced approach across throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost.
• Collaborate closely with team members to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and achieve shift and production targets.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members while contributing expertise to strengthen team performance.
• Maintain clear communication and accurate documentation, ensuring logs are complete and deficiencies are reported and addressed promptly.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

5 or more years of experience operating manual, remote and/or autonomous drilling rigs in an open pit mining environment.

Experience operating SmartROC D65 drills or Epiroc Pit Viper 231 drills is required.

Previous exposure to Autonomous Equipment Operation will be considered an asset, but is not required

Additional Qualifications – Competency Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Heavy equipment operator training considered an asset.
