About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a well-established organization to recruit a Customs Specialist for a permanent opportunity in Brampton. This role plays a critical part in supporting and streamlining both international and domestic supply chain operations, ensuring goods move efficiently and compliantly across borders.

In this position, you’ll work closely with internal teams, customs brokers, and regulatory bodies, becoming a trusted advisor on trade compliance and customs regulations. Your Responsibilities
  • You’ll coordinate with internal teams, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies to ensure efficient import and export operations.
  • In this role, you’ll manage and review import and export documentation to ensure compliance with customs laws, trade regulations, and internal policies.
  • You’ll classify imported and exported materials using appropriate HTS codes and verify country of origin.
  • You’ll monitor changes to trade regulations, customs laws, and international shipping requirements to maintain compliance.
  • You’ll collect, maintain, and manage trade compliance documentation while supporting audits and inquiries.
  • You’ll expedite customs releases and manage duty recovery or drawback processes to support on-time delivery.
  • You’ll provide guidance to internal stakeholders on customs regulations, trade agreements, and HTS classifications.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in customs compliance, logistics, or international supply chain operations.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional customs certification, such as Certified Customs Specialist, or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of HS codes, Incoterms, and international trade agreements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
