UHN is seeking a seasoned educator for Radiation Medicine who will lead education programs and clinical training at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. You will design, implement, and evaluate curricula for radiation therapists and students, aligning with current standards and patient care goals.

The role requires a Master’s degree or higher in Science or Education, a BSc in Radiation Therapy, and at least 5 years of leadership and teaching experience in education design.

Qualifications

  • Requires a BSc in Radiation Therapy and a recognized Master's degree in Science or Education.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the radiation therapy field, with leadership and course design experience.
  • Teaching/coaching experience is essential; experience developing education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes educational theories and maintains high standards of clinical practice knowledge.
  • Facilitates the delivery of the departmental RT Education Program for licensed therapists and students.
  • Develops and delivers training related to new techniques/equipment and treatment modalities to support care delivery.
  • Keeps current with developments in radiation therapy to enhance education and professional growth of staff and learners.
  • Assesses and implements patient education programs and learning resources across the organization.
  • Participates in quality improvement programs and staff recruitment/retention strategies.
  • Acts as a leader and resource, performing other duties as required.

Job Summary

The Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) is committed personalized cancer care in order to improve patient experience and outcomes. This requires innovation that will drive major changes in practice and the way we deliver care.

Duties
  • Utilizes relevant educational theories and demonstrates high standards of clinical practice knowledge
  • Facilitates the optimal delivery of the departmental RT Education Program within RMP, which provides and facilitates clinical training and education initiatives for qualified radiation therapists and undergraduate students in the Medical Radiation Sciences Program at the University of Toronto
  • Develops, designs, coordinates and delivers training and education programs related to the development, evaluation and implementation of new techniques/equipment and new treatment modalities, which supports the delivery of the care mandate of RMP.
  • Maintains current awareness of new development in the field of radiation therapy to improve level/scope of knowledge and to enhance the quality of care provided, in order to ensure the continuing education and on-going professional and personal skills development of RT staff, RMP learners and self, including assessing and identifying continuing education needs of RT staff and RMP learners.
  • Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates patient education programs, including learning resources, across the organization.
  • Utilizes research data in this process to advocate for excellent and holistic care for patients and families in all levels of the health care system.
  • Participates in quality programs and initiatives of RMP while practicing and ensuring Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Contributes to the recruitment and selection of staff and staff retention strategies
  • Acts as a leader/role model, and a resource performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Qualifications
Education
  • BSc in Radiation Therapy
  • Completion of a recognized Master's degree program in Science or Education
Years of Experience
  • 5 years' experience in area of practice
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous experience with design of education courses
  • Teaching/coaching experience
Certifications / Professional Designations
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain, certification with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Be a member of, or eligible for membership in, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
