Job summary

S&C Electric Canada is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and efficient facilities within a production environment. You will perform routine cleaning, assist with meetings, manage waste, and support office arrangements, ensuring a well-organized workspace for a diverse team.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and adherence to safety guidelines while supporting the company’s broader mission to maintain a resilient electrical grid.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial cleaning is asset but not required.
• Knowledge of operating snow blowers, ride-on scrubbers, and floor buffing/scrubbing machines.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Supports Guiding Principles and conducts themselves accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance/cleaning of floor surfaces: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and waxing, power scrubbing.
• General maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Collect, sort and compact waste disposal.
• Contact with disposal firms when necessary.
• Clear entrances and site sidewalks: sweep leaves/clear snow, snow-melt application, debris removal.
• Support for office re-arrangements.
• Assist in setup and cleanup of meetings, including rooms and parking areas.
• Stock paper and soap products throughout the facility.
• Clean and upkeep the washrooms.

Work Schedule

Day Shift: Monday – Friday; 6:30 am – 3:00 pm (40hrs per week)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices.

The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $21.

This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our maintenance function. As a Custodian, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance/cleaning of floor surfaces: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and waxing, power scrubbing
• General maintenance of cleaning equipment

• Contact with disposal firms when necessary
• Clear entrances and site sidewalks: sweep leaves/clear snow, snow-melt application, pick up wind-blown debris
• Support for office re-arrangements
• Assist in the setup and cleanup of meetings, including rooms and set aside parking areas
• Stock paper and soap products throughout the facility
• Clean and upkeep the washrooms

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Has experience in commercial cleaning, considered an asset but not required
• Has knowledge of the operation of single-stage snow blowers, ride-on power scrubbers, and floor buffing/scrubbing machines
• Is self-motivated and can work independently as well as within a team environment
• A team member who fully supports our Guiding Principles and naturally conducts themselves accordingly

Physical Demands

• Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
• Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
• Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
• Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
