Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 10 education.
• Building Services Worker (1-3 years) training is an asset.
• First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
• WHMIS certification is an asset.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge and understanding of Lílwat Nation community, history, culture, language, and customs an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of XCS Community School interior and exterior.
• Clean, disinfect, vacuum, mop, and wipe surfaces daily.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuums.
• Move furniture, dust, and return to original position.
• Empty trash and sort recyclables in designated bins.
• Report safety concerns and supply needs to the Supervisor.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures.

Title: Custodian
Department: XCS Community School
Status: Casual
Pay Grid: Salary Range 1 ($22.86 to $30.00 per hour)
Reporting to: HeadCustodian

Summary of Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor of Head Custodian, the custodianwill ensure the cleanliness of XCS Community School in all areas inside andoutside. The custodian will ensure the facility is clean and neat, in a safemanner that meets company standards. They use cleaning chemicals to maintainequipment and other supplies while dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaningrestrooms.

Key Deliverables and Expectations

• Ensure daily cleaning and disinfection offloors, windows, fixtures, and washroom areas. Refill washroom dispensers asneeded.
• Ensure the facility is secured and locked whennot in use.
• Complete daily cleaning schedules, includingdusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and wiping down surfaces across allareas including offices, gym, daycare, and washrooms.
• Operate various industrial cleaning equipmentsuch as buffers, vacuum cleaners, carpet machines, and steam cleaners
• Move furniture, clean, dust, and wipe downfurniture and underneath, and return it to its original position.
• Empty trash cans, waste containers, andrecyclables, ensuring proper sorting into designated bins in the waste area
• Wash interior windows and walls as required.
• Clean and disinfect the kitchen area, includingsmall appliances.
• Refill paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, handsoap, and hand sanitizers in dispensers as needed.
• Ensure all mats and carpets by doorways and inthe daycare are steam cleaned weekly.
• Launder cleaning rags and dust mops as needed.
• Collect and dispose of garbage and recycledmaterials.
• Advise the Office Manager of any needed suppliesand provide recommendations for replacements.
• Report any maintenance or safety concerns to theSupervisor of School Facilities.
• Follows all applicable safety rules andprocedures.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes

• Minimum of Grade 10 education.
