Job summary

The Salvation Army in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Custodian to provide sanitation, cleaning and custodial services at a men’s residential shelter. You will perform rooms and facilities cleaning, restock hygiene items, and handle general housekeeping tasks within a safety-conscious environment.

This temporary, full-time position runs 40 hours per week through December 31, 2026, with duties indoors and outdoors in all seasons. You will lift up to 50 lbs and work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search; Child Intervention Check if working near children.
• At least three months of prior cleaning/maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sanitizes, sweeps, dusts, mops, washes, vacuums, polishes and waxes floors.
• Cleans washrooms, offices, classrooms and other rooms; restocks supplies.
• Moves furniture as requested; performs light maintenance and laundry as needed.
• Follows sanitation and safety procedures; attends required training.
• Lifts up to 50 lbs and collaborates with team to meet schedules.
