Job summary

The Muslim Association of Canada is seeking an instructional designer to support Islamic Studies curriculum development in collaboration with the Project Committee. The role emphasizes adherence to standards, deadlines, and evidence-based practices.

You will translate complex topics into engaging, grade-appropriate content, conduct research, and work with curriculum developers, reviewers, and project leads to ensure cohesive production and quality resources across programs.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Ontario or other Canadian curriculum.
  • Education or work experience in curriculum development or curriculum design is an asset.
  • Creativity, content creation experience, writing experience, and story crafting experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work within a team, with integrity, enthusiasm, initiative and confidence.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and write Arabic is an asset.
  • Work experience in an Islamic School is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and designing high-quality educational resources that adhere to Islamic principals, educational standards, and pedagogical best practices.
  • Supporting the alignment of resources and content development with MAC’s goals, educational standards, and learning outcomes.
  • Adapt curriculum content into clear, accessible, and engaging language appropriate for different grade levels.
  • Write and develop a variety of educational content, including: student worksheets and activity sheets, reading passages, video and animation scripts, story book scripts, presentation and slide content, scenario cards, discussion prompts, reflection activities, and graphic organizers, assessments, review activities, and other supplementary learning materials.
  • Conduct required comprehensive research on assigned topics using credible sources, databases, and other academic or professional resources.
  • Incorporate appropriate Qur’anic verses, hadith, Islamic teachings, prophetic biographies, Islamic history, and examples into educational resources in accordance with approved curriculum direction.
  • Create age-appropriate, relevant, and engaging resources, activities, and assessments for various educational levels.
  • Work closely with curriculum developers, subject-matter experts, reviewers, designers, and project leads to develop resources that meet curriculum needs.
  • Review, edit, proofread, and refine educational content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, age appropriateness, and instructional effectiveness.
  • Contribute to project documentation, resource tracking, progress updates, and reporting as required by the project team.

Job description

The Curriculum and Resource Development Instructional Designer is going to closely support the Islamic Studies curriculum development process in consultation with the Project Committee while ensuring an effective implementation of standard project management processes. We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual that will assist in developing high-quality, engaging, well researched Islamic Studies Curricula resources. The candidate is also expected to work closely with Curriculum Developers and the Project Manager to ensure unity of production and meeting deadlines. The successful candidate will be tasked to do the following:
