Job summary

York Catholic District School Board in Aurora, Ontario, is seeking a Customer Service-Learning Support Technician to provide first-level IS support across school sites and administrative facilities. Qualifications

• Advanced College Diploma in Computer Technology or related field.

• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to school sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote, phone, email, and onsite technical support for hardware, software, operating systems, login/password issues, and network connectivity.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to workstations, mobile devices (Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, smartphones), and Interactive Whiteboards.
• Log, analyze, prioritize, track, upscale, resolve incoming technical issues in the Board's ticketing system in a timely manner.
• Perform hardware repairs on mobile devices, including replacing screens, keyboards, hinges, and batteries.
• Review, recommend, and assist in developing coding or scripting efficiencies to automate data flows between systems.
• Support and maintain functional operations of SIS and primary software suites (Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, Windows, Apple OS X/iOS).
• Assist in updating end-user support documentation and the IS Call Centre website.
• Install, test, upgrade, and maintain workstations, printers, and interactive learning technology at YCDSB locations.
• Work collaboratively with IS department teams and school staff to support Board strategic commitments and tech initiatives.
• Guide users and participate in end-user training initiatives individually or as part of a team.

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Customer Service and Learning Technicians, the IS Support Technician provides comprehensive first-level technical support, hardware maintenance, and systems troubleshooting to Board staff, students, and parents. This role ensures effective operation, maintenance, and integration of computer hardware, software, mobile devices, learning technologies, and data systems across school sites and administrative facilities.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide remote, phone, email, and onsite technical support for hardware, software, operating systems, login/password issues, and network connectivity.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to workstations, mobile devices (Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, smartphones), and Interactive Whiteboards. (i.e., EPSON Brightlinks)
• Log, analyze, prioritize, track, upscale, resolve incoming technical issues in the Board's ticketing system (Issue Tracker System) in a timely manner.
• Perform hardware repairs on mobile devices, including replacing screens, keyboards, hinges, and batteries.
• Review, recommend, and assist in developing coding or scripting efficiencies to automate data flows between systems and improve business processes.
• Support and maintain functional operations of Student Information Systems (SIS) and primary software suites (Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, Windows, Apple OS X/iOS).
• Assist in updating end-user support documentation and the IS Call Centre website.
• Install, test, upgrade, and maintain workstations, printers, and interactive learning technology at YCDSB locations.
• Work collaboratively with IS department teams and school staff to support Board strategic commitments and tech initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Advanced College Diploma in Computer Technology or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an information systems environment.
• Licensing: Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to school sites.

Skills and Competencies:

• Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Windows, Apple OS X/iOS, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, active directory/network infrastructure, and Student Information Systems.
• Assets: Coding/scripting experience (Java, JavaScript, VB, C#, Bootstrap, HTML) and knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Azure.
• Soft Skills: Outstanding customer service, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills.
